Meet the team

Albie Turner FCCA

Director

Albie has been in accountancy for over 20 years, and joined Versa as a partner in March 2007. He controls all audit, accounts and compliance matters for our clients. He specialises in FCA regulated clients and high-net-worth individuals, as well as overseeing all accounting work of the practice.

Albie qualified with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in March 1998, and became a Fellow in March 2003. He even manages his son’s football team and has a qualified for the The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football.

Jamie McGilvray ACIB

Director

Jamie has over 17 years' experience in banking, finance and accountancy. At Versa, he is responsible for the proactive management of clients and ensures the business runs operationally and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. He offers clients bespoke advice on how to structure and present funding proposals, effectively manage risk, assist with cash flow management, and ensure all aspects of business, financial and tax planning are considered.

Jamie is a fellow of the Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers, he holds an Advanced Certificate in Credit and studied Business Management at Cranfield University for 4 years. He has a passion for charitable work and is on the Executive Steering Committee of the global Charity, Football for Peace.

Steve Potter FCCA

Senior Accounts Manager

Steve is a qualified accountant with 35 years experience in the profession. During his career he has been involved with a varied range of clients from sole traders to international companies and industry sectors including retail, FMCG, electronics, construction, property development, investment, media, legal services, transport and many others. Steve is a hands on person and makes it his mission to understand a client’s business and the needs and wants of the business owners he works with.

James Scarfe ACCA

Accounts Manager

James joined Versa in June 2018, and deals with a wide range of clients in several different industries, and their needs in regards to accounting, financials and taxation.

He became a recognised member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as of October 2017, only three years after entering the profession, and is now in the process of completing his Chartered Tax Advisor qualification.

Jeffrey P Witzenfeld FCA

Bookkeeping & VAT Manager

Jeff has 50 years’ experience in finance and accountancy both in practice and commercially. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1974 and has specialised in small and medium-sized companies.

Jeff enjoys golf, cricket and football, as well as having a passion for charitable work.

Neil Cameron

Office & Accounts Manager

Joining Versa in 2010, Neil brings over 15 year’s experience working in practice at all levels from small to mid-tier and top 20 firms. Starting his accounting career in Leicester he first went north to Nottingham before making the move down to London.

He uses that experience to manage the day to day accounts & audit work for Versa and proactively provides 1:1 in house staff training as well as keeping the office software and systems upto date.

Paul Marks

Consultant

Paul commenced his career with Stoy Hayward (now BDO Stoy Hayward) in the late 70’s where he trained. Paul chose to obtain overall accounting experience and worked within various departments of the firm. From Stoy’s Paul moved to Robson Rhodes a National Firm of Chartered Accountants where he became within two years, head of the firm’s London tax consultant division.

During Paul’s time at Robson Rhodes he spent two years working for the Foreign Office (FCO) in Chicago helping US companies to expand and set up business in the UK. Paul has represented both the FCO and the DTI on many speaking engagements about private enterprise in the UK and Inward Investment.

On returning to the UK Paul decided to set up his own practice P J Marks & Co. Paul now acts as a Consultant for Versa and specialises in tax planning and corporate finance acting for many high net worth individuals and businesses in the financial, sporting, restaurant and property sectors

Paul is a member of the Association of Lawyers and Legal Advisors and is a recognised expert witness for various accounting and taxation issues especially in divorce work. Paul is also involved in various charitable works and is trustee for many charities ranging from youth development to helping the aged and infirmed.

Basya Marks

Tax Manager

Basya has worked for Versa for 5 years specialising in Tax Advisory. Basya is an integral member of the team and in 2018, was promoted to Tax Manager.

Having already passed several exams, Basya is approaching the final stages of achieving her ATT qualification.

Basya also deals with company secretarial work for Limited companies and helps proactively manage Versa's young Apprentices.
